Red Dead Online has its own uniquetreasure maps, and since money is such an important commodity, you'll probably want to find some as soon as possible. Where do you find more? The best place to do this is in Gang Hideouts. And what's a possible reward? Gold Bars. Here's where to find treasure maps, and a list of treasure map solutions.

How to FindTreasure Mapsin Red Dead Online

There are two main ways to find Treasure Maps in RDR2's multiplayer:

  • Rank Unlocks
  • Gang Hideouts

Rank Unlocks

After reaching Rank 10, you will receive a Treasure Map every five levels as you progress through Red Dead Online (Rank 15, Rank 20, Rank 25, etc).

Gang Hideouts

As you explore the world, keep an eye out for Gang Hideouts, marked with a red splotch and a skull on your map. They spawn in various locations around the world, such as Fort Mercer in New Austin, Quaker's Cove in West Elizabeth, or Cumberland Falls in New Hanover.

Each Gang Hideout has a Gang Leader - if you eliminate all of the other gang members in the hideout, the Leader will surrender. You can then choose to either kill or spare the gang leader. Regardless of what you choose to do, there is a chance that you will find a Treasure Map when looting either the Leader's body, a lock box, or chest hidden in the camp.

How to Use Treasure Maps in Red Dead Online

  1. When you find a Treasure Map, go into your Satchel, head to the Documents tab, and "Use" the Treasure Map to have its treasure location marked on your map.
YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE TREASURE MAP ACTIVATED AT A TIME.
  2. Head to that location.
  3. Once there, use Eagle Eye by pressing both thumbsticks in tofind the specific location of the treasure chest highlighted in gold.

Treasure Chest Rewards
Red Dead Online treasure chests typically reward players with roughly half a gold bar (the premium currency in RDO), some useful items and a moderate amount of money.

Gang Hideout Tips & Tricks

  • Gang Hideouts spawn randomly, so these specific points may not be active every time you visit them.
  • Switching servers is a quick way to find an active Gang Hideout in one of the locations below.
  • If other players clear out a Gang Hideout it'll need time to spawn again.
  • Gang Hideout locations may be slightly different each time you visit an area, moving around the area should be enough to trigger the icon on the mini map.
  • Moving between Gang Hideouts that are closer together, the area around Tumbleweed in New Austin for example, is an easy way to get one to spawn.
  • Treasure maps will not spawn at every Gang Hideout.
